EQC's disaster fund to get $50m Government top up, months earlier than forecast
The Press, Cate Broughton, 29 Oct 2018
The Government will top up funding for the Earthquake Commission (EQC) for the first time in the organisation's 72-year history.
EQC Minister Megan Woods announced on Monday a first payment of $50 million would be made under the Crown Guarantee on November 1 to help meet operating costs.
It comes months earlier than expected, with EQC's National Disaster Fund previously forecast to hit zero early next year.
